Nov. 29 2007

Formosa Advanced Technologies Co. (8131.TW) which made its debut on the Taiwan Stock Exchange Thursday, expects to receive orders from Dell Inc) and International Business Machine Corp. (IBM) in 2008, said Formosa Vice Chairman Shih-Ming Hsie.

Hsie said the current clients of the chip packaging and testing company, partly owned by the Formosa Plastics Group, include Chinese chipmaker Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMI) and Nanya Technology Corp. (2408.TW).

"We expect revenue to continue to grow in 2008...as worldwide demand from chip companies remains strong," he said. Hsie declined to disclose details about the expected deals with IBM and Dell, and also declined to give a specific forecast for the firm's revenue and profit next year. Formosa Advanced, Taiwan's ninth-largest chip testing and packing company by revenue as of the end of 2006, had a net profit of NT$1.3 billion, or NT$3.09 a share, in the January-September period.
